“San Andreas” grossed $54 million in the US and $118 million overseas.
“Tomorrowland” grossed $63 million in the US and $133 million overseas.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” grossed $427 million in the US and $1.3 billion overseas.
Obviously, these comparisons will not apply as dramatically to all independent feature films and documentaries. But it should be crystal clear to all filmmakers that a foreign marketing campaign should be a very high priority.
